Marella Chia's Book Signing Reception at Creel and Gow

Marella Chia's presented her book "Marella Agnelli The Last Swan" at a reception hosted for her at Creel and Gow on December 6th 2014.  In the midst of artisanal objects and rare curiosities,  guests celebrated this tribute to a great style and fashion icon of her time:  Marella Agnelli.

Holiday House NYC 2014


For the past 6 years the Holiday House NYC has been showcasing the work of talented top designers while benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It was founded in 2008 by interior designer Iris Dankner and it is the first show house to benefit a breast cancer organization. Partnering with Traditional Home Magazine, the show house is open at the historic Academy Mansion until December 21. This year, a common theme was fine art. Seeing what becomes of the rooms in the hands of a new designer year after year is part of the experience.

PULSE Art Fair: Shimon Okshteyen


A particularly interesting exhibit at the PULSE Art Fair was Brooklyn artist Shimon's Okshteyn, for his creative presentation of his eclectic series Girls.  Snapshots of young women in Brooklyn streets became traditional grayscale portraits mounted on a colorful mirror panels.

ICFF 2014 Highlights

The annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) is on it's 26th year displaying the best and the latest trends in contemporary design from all over the world at the Jacob Javits Center. We attended on May 18th, which was a trade day. The show opens to the public on its final day, May 20th.

Joseph Ginsberg Art Opening


A dynamic grouping of oil on canvas, watercolor on paper and other mixed-media paintings composed last Friday night’s art show at the Joe Ginsberg Design studio, featuring the private collection of New York-based artist Joseph Ginsberg. Celebrated for his original contemporary paintings, Friday’s show captured the essence of Ginsberg’s career, spanning over three decades. The collection provided attendees with a provocative glimpse of his unique style, while guests mingled with the artist and his staff in the beautiful midtown loft space.

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House opens each year to support the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club. Distinguished interior designers create their visions in a room inside the house, making a visit worth while and perhaps required to become inspired with innovative and edgy interiors.

Holiday House Hamptons Kick off at Fendi Casa


On May 6, 2014 Holiday House founder Iris Dankner hosted the Holiday House Hamptons kick off party at Fendi Casa's beautiful Madison Avenue location. The window display was designed by Campion Platt. Benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Holiday House Hamptons is in its second year and will take place from June 29- August 10th in Sag Harbor, NY.

This is You: Art Exhibition

The "This is You" by Tapp Francke art exhibition is currently running until May 25th 2014 at gallery nine5 in the Lower East Side. The installation consists of distinctively framed mirrors with neon glowing words on each piece and affirmative statements.  The mirrors require viewers to 'confront' themselves with the personalized messages reflected across their faces, merging colors and implications for a personal effect.

Row NYC Guestrooms Tour

On April 22,  new Times Square hotel Row NYC welcomed NEWH's Toasty Tuesdays event, inviting hospitality industry members to take a tour the Gensler designed guest rooms. The guest rooms were simple yet included many details that were illustrative of NYC culture and fitting to the area. At the end  of the corridors on every floor leading to the rooms, there are vivid graphics of an NYC neighborhood.

Counter Evolution Opening Party



CounterEvolution  celebrated the opening of their new NY showroom on April 24. The event was an intimate gathering in their 2,000 sf Flatiron District showroom, featuring their furniture crafted from old wood and steel salvaged and repurpsed from closed bowling lanes and well as other structures. CounterEvolution's high quality and functional products can be seen in eco-minded places such as Starbucks and Shake Shack.

Steve Ellis Art Reception at Conde Nast

The Durst Organization and Chashama held a memorable art reception for Steve Ellis in the lobby of the Conde Nast building in 4 Times Square. His paintings portray vibrant pop culture iconography  with meaningful graphics that are very NYC relevant. "His intricate details urge viewers to be ever aware of their vivid surroundings". The work was curated by Janusz Jaworski and the paintings can be seen from Monday- Friday until March 17, 2014.

1stdibs Designer Preview at The Winter Antiques Show


The 60th annual Winter Antiques Show took place at the Park Avenue Armory.  Featuring the “best of the best” from antiquities through the 1960s, the Show provides curators, collectors, designers and first-time buyers with opportunities to view and purchase exceptional pieces showcased by 73 exhibitors. One-third of the Show's exhibitors are specialists in Americana, with the rest featuring English, European, and Asian fine and decorative arts.

Novotel Guestrooms Tour

The hospitality industry network NEWH hosted their monthly member meeting  for December at Novotel New York Times Square, designed by StoneHill & Taylor Architects. Stonehill & Taylor's Wally Aubuchon gave event guests a tour of 2 guest suites, while explaining the New Year's Eve concept that inspired the design of the hotel.  The guest rooms at Novotel are simple and beautifully designed rooms with functional furniture and chic modern appeal.
