Top 8 Closet Expo Highlights

The Closet Expo this year  took place at the Austin convention center, where many players in the closet industry came together to exchange information and ideas.  Closet Room was in attendance with open eyes and ears to learn about innovative storage solutions and new products. We have highlighted our favorites below:

1. A Desk Bed, and vice versa.
Have compassion for your tiny apartment by including this amazing unit that is a hidden bed with an ultra large desk. Having no space for your needs is no longer an excuse. Don't worry about clearing your desk either... everything stays in place under the bed once it comes down.

2. Get Creative with melamine surfaces.
Instead of plain boring white or flat finishes, chose something different for your built in, especially for door and drawer fronts.
We were impressed with laminates that reassemble materials and textures that look like leathers and fine linen, among unique wood textures.

3. Versatile and modern closet systems.
Update the look of your closet system with aluminum vertical rods, that can attach to the ceiling or wall. They are airy and modern. Create an unconcealed closet area on an empty wall with this beautiful system that is adjustable and easy to take with you when you move. You pick the depths of the shelves.

4. Mocket’s pop up light.
Impress your guests or yourself on a regular basis with this very functional and high tech  hidden desk light that pops out when you need some light. The height is adjustable and also includes two outlets. Think boutique hotel chic.

5. Lazy Shoesan
Lazy shoesan is a spinning shoe storage that is perfect for hard-to-reach corners because it also rotates. Incorporate it in your closet built in unit, or have it free standing in your spacious walk in.

6. A Real Wood Closet System
Many appreciate the beauty of wood in their closets but are afraid of the commitment, especially if the unit is in a rental apartment or it is too difficult to move. This beautiful system is not melamine, but real wood, designed around the possibility of being able to move it. It is also easy to install.

7. Consider Cedar If your closet is not made out of cedar, consider adding cedar components and fast! In the world of cedar accessories, closet backing panels are available as well as large pieces of cedar to hang on a rod and cedar sachets for drawers. Replace moth ball for cedar balls!  If you did not have your drawer insert made out of cedar, its never to late to line them with cedar              sections or use cedar drawer dividers.

8. Conveyer  Wardrobe.
Press a button and bring your clothes in from another level. Literally. Install this rotating track system in a place like the attic and bring the clothes straight into your walk in closet. Keep the clothes moving! This is perfect if you are not a fan storing your clothes away for the seasons. Take advantage of the space in an empty room to “store” your clothes and hide part of  the track. What an exciting closet! Be a closet star and the envy of town with a rotating closet unit.  The most impressive part is the touch screen  technology that can be integrated into the unit, a simple selection and touch of a button will bring the clothes right to you.
